The globalization of hip hop culture has created new ways of gathering people in spite of borders, religions, cultures in so far as Rap music, Graffiti and Breakdance has began over years the same unique language for millions of people over the world. That..s why CEET, renownded graffiti artist from Toulouse, after same experiences in Europe and in the United-states has decided to establish himself in China. Whereas hip hop culture is moving off its basic values as in France happens, he realized that China could be an out-standing potential to promote the expansion of this culture. He has gathered several artists in order to creat a prestigious team whose team he is the leader/ manager. The idea of creating a real exchange between France and Asia has been obvious : this concept has been called EATING DOGS TOUR. A tour which gathers graffiti artitists, KONGO and MYRE members of MAC CREW (one of the most famous and renowned crew in Europe, they have organized the KOSMOPOLITE festival), NOE TWO ( graffiti artist since 15 years), TOAST from Switzerland, dancers from Toulouse BEN and VINS. Four DJ..s : DJ SOON from Marseille ( dj of the famous french band the FONKY FAMILY), DJ GET DOWN (vice-champion DMC), Dj DOZE (DJ of KOOL SHEN expatriated in Hongkong and DJ SAMIR from Lyon and settled down in Guangzhou and then the Master of Ceremony (MC) MAD MAX CRAZY from Toulouse.On the 10th of may 2006 they all arrived in Hongkong from their own cities then let..s go to Shenzhen after crossing customs that had been the only problem of their trip toget visas. Myre had to go back in Hongkong due to his U.S passport. He arrived the next day.Shenzhen has been built up at a tough speed over 25 years. Population has grown up from few thousands of peopls to several millions of people. This city looks like an asian New York with its giant skyscrapers, big malls, luxury shops, traffic jams and actually few bikes, Mac Donalds and KFC at each corners of avenues. All is such far away from what we used to see on China..s post cards. Sun goes down and the party starts up by going first to the Ibiza Club. This is the famous nightclub where performences will happen the next day. After drinking few glasses of alcohol, a chinese bikes race to go on clubs crawl. We has realized that the young in Shenzhen are very fashion-dressed and enjoy having fun on dance-floors as it happens in any other big western cities.On the 11th of may, graffiti artists got up early in the morning to go to the local WALL OF FAME to paint their art using ..Throw up... On the afternoon, let..s go shopping to discover the sneakers Nike Air Force One for 12$. A dream for any b.boys, a cheap stuff which didn..t prevent us bargaining to save 1$. Shopping bags much fuller than a shopping day in New York, it..s time to go to the Ibiza Club where the first performence in graffiti with some chinese graffiti artists PERS, TAM, YYY... will take place. Facing the audience and two chinese police men, this the only time we have had to work under their control. Contrary to what we thought, police control was not very directly present in our every day life work. They left early, and party finished in a pleasant atmosphere.On the 12d of may we went in bus to Guangzhou, hardly arrived at the hotel with such a modern design that we went to shopping in a hood where shops are often managed by african people that was such amazing!!! Press-conference for those who didn..t lost themself in streets of Shenzhen during shopping. At night we gathered in the Comrade where our french Dj..s began their sets and our dancers BEN and Vins aroused the audience!!!! French dancers had been challenged by three good cantonese hip hop dancers but they failed to win the battle! All happened in the peaceful spirit of hip hop. Mad Max Crazy took the mic to communicate good vibes as he is used to do so efficiently. Outside, graffiti artists performed et answered matters the audience asked.On the 13d of may, go back in Hongkong and accross again customs. Press-conference at the C. Club. Press in Hongkong didn..t appreciate the name which had been given to the Tour : .. EATING DOGS... That ..s why CEET took the decision to recall it .. EATING FROGS.. . This tour happened during the French May meaning that french culture is demonstrated over a week. Hongkong is the main western city in China. We can see many european tourists visiting it, and particularly french people. Settled down in LKF street, a pesdestrian street in HK, the crownd stoped to admire graffiti artists' street performances. NOE TWO's wall painting was a nice Bruce Lee. This quite realistic painting was obviously mostly appreciated by street audience! Turntables were fixed in the street and the whole hood were invaded of hip hop music, and french rap was also broadcasted! BOOBA caught people..s eyes ! Two french dancers both make their show under applause and then Djs mixed at the same time in 3 different clubs in this street. Graffiti artists gathered the fallowing day to perform a huge wall painting to say ..good bye China... Every artist shared the same will : coming back as soon as possible in China. No doubt to say that in such a big and curious country this tour will contribute to the expansion of hip hop culture in China!
