About Me

I'm Jordan Beckett. I'm a singer/songwriter from Eugene, Oregon. I'm a musician by design, a romantic by discovery, and a world traveler by dream. I play guitar and piano, and write songs about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

I'm just getting started, as I've been songwriting for about two years now. I'm working on my first EP (independently produced). The EP should be released Spring of '09, so stay tuned. The best is only getting started!

Influences: "My influences are all over the board. I grew up on the classics -- Chicago, Crosby Stills and Nash, Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble. As I got older I found my niche in punk rock, ska, and metal. I immersed myself in music during highschool and fell in love with jazz, which led me to the University of Oregon. At the UofO I found a new love in classical and world musics. I began writing in classical form and, strangely enough, became fascinated by the hip hop, R&B, and pop genres (especially in our local music scene).

As convoluted as it may seem, those are my roots. I’ve really come to appreciate musicians who compose, perform and write for the purpose of entertainment, inspiration, education, and communication. I’m enthralled with people who know what they love and are willing to work hard for it."
Sounds Like: A broad spectrum of sounds encompassing Mayer, Jars of Clay, Coldplay, DMB, Jack Johnson... just to name a few. All of this combined? It sounds a lot like Jordan Beckett.

Something Special

Tonight, the Beltline lights outside my apartment window seem so pedantic. I've been in burn-out mode lately, but I received just what I needed -- just in time. Rescued by a friend, I spent the first ...

From IT to LP

I'm coming to learn the value of people...at keyboards...on myspace.  Sorry, there just isn't an eloquent way of putting it!  For the longest time I figured myspace people are not real. ...
