About Me
Greetings,
Established in 1986, Johnson Digital Audio provides recording and sound services for choral and symphonic events, high school and college music & theater programs, vocal & instrumental recitals and auditions, and many other types of 'on-site' engagements in addition to studio recordings and digital editing work.
Bio:
My name is Steve Johnson. Born son of a classical musician, master automotive technician and audio engineer in Silicon Valley, CA, I was raised surrounded by music, technology and perfect weather. Placing microphones in front of orchestras and pressing 'record' by 11 years of age, I've been tracking and mixing classical, jazz, choral, rock, hip-hop and other styles of music live and in the studio for 20+ years.
Been fortunate to mix and/or record with a wide variety of great artists during my career including:
Maynard Ferguson, Louie Bellson, Pete Escovedo, Isaac Hayes, Ozomatli, Galactic, Mix Master Mike, Papa Roach, Kings X, The Misfits, The Dead Kennedys, De La Soul, Fishbone, Flogging Molly, Digital Underground, The Choral Project and others.
Directed audio at corporate events, summits, and productions for end-users such as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Education Secretary Margaret Spellings, United Negro College Fund President Michael Lomax, and the Rev. Al Sharpton.
Currently employed by Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, teaching Stardraw system design software and Ulysses 3-D acoustic modeling software as well as teaching and being a Digidesign Certified Operator with Digidesign's VENUE D-Show digital console.
Also been playing drums for 20 years. Started at age 11 in Drum Corps marching and touring the country for 5 years with the Santa Clara Vanguard. Then in the late 90's I performed in a funk-rock, hip/hop group called G.R.I.T.S., that played shows alongside greats like Rick James, Ice-T, Incubus, P.O.D., Papa Roach, Galactic, Pato Banton and others. I continue to play drums for artist projects and studio sessions as well as live gigs from time to time.
