Ahhh yes The Dirty Fuckin’ Dogs, one of the most beloved bands to rock Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The late Scott Morrow once wrote in one of his LA Weekly reviews “my fave hard-rock band on the planet right now, Dirty Dogs, who with the right kind of record company behind them could come up Guns-N-Roses-like success (and they are the best live band I’ve seen since GNR themselves)â€. Founded in 1987 by Mickey McMahan and Tim English, the band was eventually rounded out by Randy Scarbeary and Fred Gordon. The Dogs played non-stop packing the Whiskey A Go Go, The Coconut Teaszer, Club Lingerie, Rajis, The Shamrock and other Hollywood clubs of that era. Dirty Dogs shows were always loud, wild, exciting and fun. Managed by the law firm of Hartman/Stevens the band got close to superstardom on many occasions, but was never able to secure the top prize, which was a major label deal. In 1991 with the emergence of the Seattle scene, the band turned in their dog tags and called it a day.
