Ghetto Blacc is a Nigritian West Coast rapper, comedian,
actor, and barber. He is a native of Compton, California.He
was nicknamed Blacc by his family due to the dark complexion
of his skin. He was nicknamed Ghetto by the streets due to his
demeanor, and ability to sell anything from tapes to soul food.
Blacc was a teenage gang member and street hustler. He began
using music and weight lifting as a way to escape from his “lifeâ€
situations. He would write raps while his good friend, the late
Marlon Brooks a.k.a. Ace Rock would sing and make the beats.
In 1984, Blacc and Ace Rock began rapping and mixing with
Toddy Tee, and the late Mix Master Spade.
After loosing his older brother and Ace Rock to gang violence,
Blacc moved away from his gangsta roots. He moved towards
making a calm reality enlightening type rap music. He converted
his garage into a studio, which he called “The Unity Station.â€
He began recording homemade tapes from his 16 track Mackie.
The Unity Station became known as a place were anyone could
come and make music, regardless of what hood you were from.
He used his street hustling skills to sell his tapes.
Blacc lit the underground on fire in the mid ‘90s with songs
like “Smoke Too Much,†and “Faces of Death.†In 1997, he
was half of a group called Hub City Dwellas, and they
recorded “West Coast Life featuring Daddy V.†Ghetto
Blacc has collaborated with several hip hop artist and
producers like Nate Dogg (We Don’t Luv Em), Ruthless
Records artist NX, Mr. Tan (Ghetto Musik), Melissa Suzanne
(Good Times), and Kevin Fluornoy (All I Need) to name a
few. Blacc has also performed and recorded several songs
with Tupac, Big Syke, Idi Amen, and Thug Life Outlaws.
Ghetto Blacc has hosted multiple showcases for the
Independent Music Network (I.M.N.) sponsored by
Street Perspective Magazine, performed and co-
hosted the 2002 Summer Jam sponsored by
Sunkist and 100.3 The Beat, as well as Voices
Never Heard, and Blue Whale Distribution.
In 1999, Blacc began performing and opening shows
for Eddie Griffin and Blue Light Records. They
recorded the song, “Party Too Hard Remix.†He
worked with Eddie Griffin for several years, which
inspired him to pursue his career as a comedian.
People would always tell him he was funny, but in
Blacc’s mind, he was just being honest. Ghetto has
collaborated with comedians on Nick Cannon’s Wildn’
Out. His pseudonym for comedy is Blacc Man. He
also performed weekly at The 880 Club’s Funny
Style Comedy Series sponsored by InDaStreets.net.
Blacc was reacquainted with his long time friend Spider
Loc in 2000. He worked with Spider Loc, who was signed
to G-Unit, and was apart of the G-Unit West movement.
Ghetto Blacc was featured on several mixtapes, “Bangadoshishâ€
with Spider Loc, 50 Cent, and Young Buck, “Da Chuuchâ€
with Snoop Dogg and Daddy V, also “Compton Gutter†with
various artist.
Ghetto can also be seen on the DVD “Brainless The Prequel,â€
and the movie, “Paroled†starring Spider Loc, Master P, Ernest Thomas,
and Candy Brown Houston.
Ghetto Blacc began pursuing his career in comedy in 2003.
dadda dadda dadda dadda BLACCMAN is his pseudonym for comedy.
He has brought his funny to many venues beginning at
the Bistros 880 in Carson. He is currently jac'n off the
High Desert with his comedy, as well as, managing TG BLACC!
Ghetto Blacc continues to make "reality and enlightening rap
music," he calls, "thinking music at a raw street level."
