Most twin family acts resort to gimmicks such as Doublemint Gum commercials, circus magic acts and appearances on Guinness World Records programs to pay the bills. Not the case with the Trent brothers from Eugene, OR. Adam and Dan Trent invented a creative solution to the growing problem of people not being able to tell them apart. Adam would always be dressed in red while Dan always wore blue. The idea blossomed in their teens into what is now a hard rock quartet known as ColdFire. The Trent’s moved to Oregon from Upstate New York where they were born and raised. They started ColdFire as a two-piece, with Adam on guitar/vocals and Dan on drums, before adding Derrik Vuylsteke on lead guitar in 2004. Three years later, Justin Hopkins was added on bass. The band plays a post-hardcore style of alternative/hard rock. Imagine Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains as channeled by pre-black album Metallica. Adam’s vocals are a happy marriage between David Byrne and Serj Tankian. The foursome recorded their first album, Not the Same, in 2008, a one-two punch of blistering guitars and Led Zeppelin style drums. The band expands on that sound with the release of their next album later this year.Nature
