About Me

After years of making music the group began to get the attention of several record labels and met with music industry executives but was never signed. This setback made them realize that instead of taking their group and music to a record label they would form their own label and distribute the music themselves. This led to the birth of MPACT Records.Q: What do you think about the current state of the Hip-Hop/Rap music industry?Smoke: "I think it's lacking in creativity, everybody sounds the same and rap about the same shit."Fuqua: "Money wise it's cool though…"Smoke: "I guess you gotta go with what sells."X: "…yeah I agree."Q: Who did you look up to starting out, who was your biggest inspiration?X: "Pac!"Fuqua: "…fo sho, I use to love Outkasts' first album."Smoke: "Yeah, Pac. I liked Nas."X: "Jay-Z…shit everybody who makes good music."Q: Being that you've been rapping for so long with no albums recorded, do you think all of the groups hard work and sacrifices was worth the wait?Fuqua: "Hell Yeah!"X: "We're at the top of our game right now"Smoke: "People who don't know the business side of it can get fucked in their contracts."Q: When will you be satisfied with your success? What is your ultimate goal?Fuqua: "Never, niggas always set new goals and shit…"Smoke: "I don't think we'll ever be satisfied."X: "Fo sho, we'll always accomplish new goals, that's something were tryng to get across to the young niggas."Q: Describe your style.Smoke: "There ain't no style, this is just who we are."Q: What was the toughest situation you were faced with on your road to completing this album, what were your largest obstacles?X: "Money!"Smoke: "Giving everything else up."Fuqua: "Money, snake ass niggas, and trying to stay focused."X: "…real life shit"Q: Why do you think people should buy this album?Smoke: "It's something new, from the beats to the lyrics."Fuqua: "The shit is bangin', it's a complete album."X: "It's a new sound, a new area, the game is changing and we're part of the new movement."Q: Define the word "Cession".X: "More than one nigga doing anything."Smoke: "It's like we all on the same page, going through the same shit."X: "You can have a smoke cession, a drinkin' cession, a rhyming cession…"Fuqua: "Yeah, it's just niggas vibin together, you know what I'm sayin'."

Sounds Like:Da streets is giving positive feedback on Mpact's efforts and it's artists, we appreciate the love and support and will always do this hip hop thing for you the FANS. We believe that when one of us from D-Town makes it big in the hip hop music industry the rest of the city's artists and their efforts will gain some national attention. We as local artists and excutives should help and "network" with each other, but respect the efforts of another artists or company that could result in some reward. E-Bangin', hatein', false accusations, and negetive talk only weakens us all. Some have accused Mpact of being selfish in it's promotion and marketing efforts for it's upcoming performance for the "Street Dreams Tour" at the Denver Coliseum on May 3rd; we brush off this critizism as bullshit and can only respond by saying this is a business and it's our time to SHINE, it's a conflict of business interests for any outside person, contractor, employee, or business to interfere with Mpact's regular business duties or responsibilities, we are more than happy to help or participate in, not self promote ourselves at another artists or companies event.
