'If Jose Gonzalez owned a magic milk-cart which was driven by Jesus and powered by rainbows, it would be A Magic Bullet' - Chic Magazine
A Magic Bullet, as of 7th March 2008, sadly no longer exists. You can read in our blog our reasons for this, but we've kept this website up and running for you to continue to enjoy our songs, and see what we're up to in the near future. Thank you for all your help and support, it is greatly appreciated by all of us :)
A.M.B. are an acoustic four piece from Sheffield, UK, playing a unique blend of acoustic, folk, indie and pop music. The band formed in the Autumn of 2005 when Sam and Rob began to play together at their University halls of residence. The two soon realised that their contrasting influences of folk and pop-rock worked well in an acoustic setting. Within a couple of months, the duet had compiled a strong collection of songs. Two months later, Joe joined the band after a successful late-night jam with Sam, bringing his own alt. country/folk influence to the group. In the early months of 2006, Sarah joined the band, bringing her disciplined, tasteful and simplistic approach to violin arrangements. This was the line-up which gigged and recorded songs for over a year (Sam, Joe and Rob - guitars, vocals, bass, Sarah - violin) until in late March 2007, Jen, already a friend of the band, went to an A.M.B. gig and shortly after asked to jam. They said yes, and it was clear from the first rehearsal that Jen would prove to be a welcome addition, quickly becoming the rhythmic backbone of the A.M.B. sound.
Unfortunately, due to various musical differences, Joe parted ways amicably with A.M.B. in late 2007, leaving Rob, Jen and Sam to gig as a trio (Sarah had, by this point, taken time away from the band to study in New Zealand).
A Magic Bullet returned as a three-piece in September 2007 to play many gigs around the North, with Sarah eventually returning to the band for a short time in February 2008.
Sadly, A Magic Bullet went out with a bang on 7th March 2008. This was due to the increasing academic commitments of the band, and all are still good friends with each other. Sam and Rob continue to play solo gigs, and both intend to develop new musical projects in the future.
The band recorded their self-titled E.P. in November 2007 which is now on the myspace page for listening and downloading.
Rob has taken a new musical direction and is currently the guitarist/backing vocalist for established Sheffield rockers Ten Foot Dolls, whilst playing occasional acoustic sets in and around Sheffield. Sam meanwhile is currently playing frequent solo gigs, returning to his folk roots - visit their websites to keep updated.
