are you hot like death of marat?
HEY! That's it, the band has officially arrived, as of today Enormous Mix Tapes head writer and reincarnated Lester Bangs in residence, Van Stuard, wrote Marat up, and here's what he had to say:
"D.O.M (W.N.D.O.M) parlays it's obtuseness into an indie spirited version of "Exile On Main Street" which as we all know was actually just another mediocre recording of white men trying to sound like black guys. The point is this is the indie "Exile". Whatever that means. And yes, we here at Enormous Mix Tapes HAVE heard Liz Phair's little girly pass at the record. Pick it up, break it, put it in the trash. It was all a lie. Pavement, too. The 90's were a mirage. Marat owns you."
Ryan Adams wishes he got press like this.
"death of marat (we're not death of marat) UK is the hottest new phenomenon in swedish-inspired brooklyn rock. depsite being a little confused by their own name, this duo of amazingly trained musicians plays nothing and everything, working constantly and still having to leave much of their entire stage performance in the hands of life size marionettes and clowns that rove through the crowd hitting less than appropriately dressed audience members. On stage they react to each other like two Anton Newcowbe's on the best heroin, creating sound and atmosphere that, before this duo, was only an idea attempted by the likes of Phillip Glass, Don Cherry and Hall and Oates. It is hard to equate the ethereal forms you see on stage with the beret and masked couple that luxuriate in their own awesomness while they chat away at the bar with the hottest of their fans after the show. the highly anticipated first release, "Are you hot like death of marat?"(secret hymnal) features terrifyingly different sounds and shapes, and a pretty package to boot. If, of course, you're hot, like death of marat. check them out, they're one of the weirdest things we've seen in a long time. and the best. ever." - bobfork, 2006.
"they're bigger than Tapes and Tapes will ever be" - Clell Tickle.
