Moonshine Creek

About Me

From Arizona come redneck country rockers, Moonshine Creek. Fronted by guitarist and lead singer, Tom Hurst, the group churns out beer soaked song craft delivered with excellent musicianship and a laid back drawl. This is the sound the band wants to see on the cutting edge of an Arizona country rock scene. Says Tom, “I love it when we play gigs with rock, punk, pop groups or whatever and hear people say ‘That country band was cool’. A lot of people say they hate country until they really listen to it.”
Moonshine Creek includes Steve Young on bass and vocals and Dave Cates on drums. Dave is a veteran touring and recording drummer who most recently worked with guitarist Steve Larson of Roger Clyne and the PeaceMakers. Steve plays bass with several groups around the valley including The Jim Beach band and Irish favorites The Brazen Heads.
Tom’s growling vocals and guitar power rockers such as “Thank You For The Ride” and “Wake Up Call”, stone country like “Flesh and Bone” and “Breakfast Table”, and give emotional weight to catchy pop numbers in the vein of “Will Not Forget You”. Moonshine Creek lays down tight heavy rhythms and swooping lap steel, but never shies away from a ballad, as in the case of the stirring “California”.
The band is currently recording its independent debut album with Jason Southard, of California country band Kane, engineering and co-producing. Moonshine Creek is also keeping busy making a mark as an exciting live band in its home state.
