Bygod grew up in Portici-Naples where he started to play violin at the age of 8 but switched to bass at the age of 13 after hearing Jaco Pastorius on Joni Mitchell’s Mingus album, and began studying electric bass music performance under the guidance of Domenico Santaniello, Carlo Dalmini and with his neighbour Pippo Matino, who offered inspiration for Bygod 's life long love of bass “chords and fillsâ€. Through the years, he has also partecipated in a number of bass clinics including bass masters like Michael Manring, Alain Caron, Jeff Berlin and Stu Hamm, and played in a lot of local rock, fusion and alternative bands. His “professional†career began in 1998 when he began working with Roberto’s Yea Murì and Ultravena band, featuring his “Didjerama†friend Gianluca Palmieri on drums, touring all over the neapolitan musical scene. He also moved to Milan in 2002 to perform with the band Damage Factory. After Milan he remained in Rome and began working as a solo bassist, arranging and performing music for unaccompanied electric bass guitar through the utilization of contemporary slapping, tapping, and chordal techniques, harmonics, as well as altered tunings.
