Influences:
Claudio Brio had just turned a young man in the beggining of the 80..s and had
the previlege to experience all the creative boom of bands of this decade.
Claudio was much influenced by the bands that where doin experiences with sequencers. Some of the pioneers in using this equipments on stage, such as Kraftwerk, New Order, Depeche Mode, DEVO, Tears for Fears, the Cure, and Pet Shop Boys. All of them later on caused impact in the Global Music Scene, but in the begginnig of the 80..s, in exception of Kraftwerk that was already more than 10 years on the road and ahead, the others was just a new stylle of bands, with strange guys and strange attitute, shorter hairs and less ego, that was performing for the first time a band without the traditional set of drums, guitar, bass, synth and singer. For the first time, bands started to present in a way that was not performing all the instruments. What you were hearing was much more than was been performed on the stage. The machines had for the first time control of the compass, the humans were for the first time, following a machine arranje.
This particular group of bands had such a strong influence, that Brio, his brother Marcelo and two other friends, created the Technopop band "Install" in 1986. The band performed in parites, bars and clubs of São Paulo, such as US Beef Rock, Victoria Pub and Woodstock, untill 1990. When the integrants were graduating in their Universities and decided to stop perfoming.
Brio selected bellow videos from the tracks that mostly had impact in his musical direction, from each group named before. So relax and have a good travel back to the 80..s, using Claudio Brio..s ears.
Kraftwerk - Pocket Calculator Live 1981
Depeche Mode - Puppets - late 1981
Devo - Thats Good - 1982-1983
The Cure - The Walk - Live 1983
New Order live, 1984, 'Blue Monday'
Claudio Brio returned to his artistic career in 1999, as a dj. After a successfull career as an engineer and business consultant, Claudio decided to make a drastic change in his life and returned to be an artist.
Claudio Brio was very much influenced, in the begginnig of his dj career, by the progressive trance released in North Europe around the millenium turn, from labels such as Flying Rhyno (UK), Spirall Traxx (SWE), Iboga (DK) and Spirit Zone (DE).
The musical connections established with North Europe had mostly influenced Brio and after 4 years as dj and promoter, during the summer of 2003/2004, Claudio Brio founded Tropical Beats in partnership with James Monro (UK), Jokke Ilsoe (DK) and Chris Melchior (DK). Claudio has been very much connected to the underground labels and artistis from Germany & Scandinavia in the last years.
Most of his stylle is influenced by the music played and produced in the underground of cities in Norht Europe, in special Berlin and Copenhagen. Where he had more oportunities to visit.
This long and straight conection to the electronic music is blended with his natural brasilian influence, bringing to his music a combination of all the technology and technological direction required by the electronic music with the brasilian rhythm and sexy atmosphere.
Is impossible to say just one name of stylle that can define his music, Claudio Brio uses all the references that he expirienced in what he writes and play. For the ones that prefer names than beats, we can try to define the stylle of his music as:
Claudio Brio dj set - Tech House, Minimal, Electro
Corejoy - Tech House, Minimal & Techno
Alpha Drive - Deep House & Progressive House
Trautonium - Progressive Trance
