HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLER TRYING TO PIN AUSTRALIAMay 01, 2007
To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Roberto Gallegos. I have been nominated to represent Arizona and the United States in wrestling competitions which will be held in Australia this summer You may have seen me on Channel 11 Evening News, 04/30/07 or read about the Team and our opportunity in the Arizona Daily Star Article Published 03/27/2007.
When great opportunities present themselves, obstacles also follow. The catch is we must raise the money ourselves. The total cost is approximately $4,500 per participant. I am writing to you because I am asking for successful business persons, such as yourself, to make a contribution towards the cost of my trip.
My team consists of 4-6 Hispanic kids who are trying to raise the money. A "major source of funds" for most kids who are invited to participate is contributions from their family and friends. However, the primary goal for our family and friends is the roof over our heads and food on the table. It is difficult to justify the cost of such a trip when you compare it to the every day necessities of life. To be honest, like many Americans, my family is living pay check to pay check.
My team mates and I are organizing car washes and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for our community. Even though it is volunteer work we ask people to sponsor us and donate an "hourly wage". Any donation you can make will help us reach our goal.
This trip is not just another competition, it is a once in a lifetime experience.
If you or your colleagues would be interested in donating please make your check payable to International Sports Specialists, Inc. (I.S.S.I.) Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 11652 Tucson, AZ 85734-1652
If I can be of any other assistance or if you desire anything in specific I will gladly do what I can. You can contact me through my coach. The Arizona State Wrestling coach is Tucson's Cholla High School Wrestling Coach, Robert Soza-Villanueva, and he can be reached at (520) 991-7386. His email is

Sincerely,
