Owl Facts.
1. Where Do Owls Live?
If you hear a hooting at night then it is probably a Tawny Owl. Tawny Owls are our most common owl (unless you live in Ireland, where there aren’t any). They live and hunt in woodland, parks and even large gardens. Long-eared Owls live in woodland too, but they are very shy and usually stay deep in the wood and don’t call so often so it is hard to know they are there. Little Owls and Barn Owls like to hunt over grassland. Barn Owls need long rough grass where mice and voles hide but little owls hunt for insects in shorter grass. Short-eared Owls and Snowy Owls also hunt over open grassland and moorland.
