Based out of Buffalo,NY, rapper/producer/singer/songwriter Matthew Atom combines the genres of hip-hop and rock into an original and artistic blend that is digestible, as well as informative. With politically and sociologically charged lyrics, he separates himself from artists of today.
As former frontman of Buffalo based hip-hop/metal act Skungk, he is no stranger to stage or studio. After 6 years of touring the northeast U.S., Skungk parted ways in 2002.
Matthew went the hip-hop route, releasing his first hip-hop solo LP, "Book of Matthew", in 2006.He followed that up in 2007 with "Matthew Feeds the Eight Hundred and Eight", which featured rock and accoustic songs to supplement the hip-hop flow of the record. He has recently released his third solo album, entitled "Intifada", in October '08.With rock, accoustic, reggae, and hardcore tracks, he proves neither himself nor hip-hop are one-dimensional.
He now plays live sets with his accompanying band, The Mujahideen, to provide more of a rock feel and stage presence, which appeals to both rock fans and hip-hop fans alike. And those who have caught a glimpse of Matthew Atom and The Mujahideen truly understand how original the style can be.
