About Me

NEW SOLO ALBUM - NO ROOM FOR CHAIRS

My first solo album NO ROOM FOR CHAIRS plus a 12" Vinyl Sampler will be released on Freestyle Records this month (March '09). The name and inspiration for the cover came from a cheeky adaptation from one of my favorite Blue Note albums by Hank Mobley called No Room For Squares. 'CHAIRS' represents my eclectic approach to DJ'ing and production and is actually quite light on the Jazz but then my work with Jazz Juice and a planned new album will compensate for that later in the year. My long time love affair with the brazilian sound is well represented though with a touch of latin and a bit of reggae, ska and other flavors mixed over a variaty of beat-styles and tempo's. It's definitely an album to fidget or bounce around to rather than sit and contemplate so I hope DJ's will find it useful and it could be a CD you put to help lighten up the housework or fix the car, actually I haven't got a clue who will like it but I'm glad it's out there now and hope it'll get a friendly reception - standing room only of course! DJ/MUSICIAN COMBO

After many years of searching for the best formula for blending tasty beats with the improvisational talents of jazz musicians I found the perfect mix in cooperation with former production partner ALAIN ESKINASI and a network of skilled guest musicians. Together we formed a live DJ/musician combo that satisfied everyone called JAZZ JUICE. In response to a constant thirst for fresh backing material we produced a steady output of studio tracks and a number of them where picked by UK based Freestyle Records and became successful singles that eventually grew into a CD album called "52nd Street".
Meanwhile the JAZZ JUICE act recently went through a few changes with a shift from a loose collective to my heading up a fixed all-ladies line-up featuring Saralee Vos, Susanne Alt, Maite Hontele, Jina Sumedi and Femka Krone.
LIVE PERFORMANCE AT SUGAR FACTORY, DECEMBER 2008.

DJ STYLE

I have a broad taste and very eclectic approach to music so it's almost impossible to characterize what I do in terms of a specific style. In general terms I would describe the music I play as funky, soulful and energetic with a jazzy attitude, lots of latin breaks and a progressive edge. I enjoy playing freestyle genre crashing sets but my main specialisations are in jazz/dance and Latin music with an emphasis on the Brazilian tip. To keep it fresh I'm also a member of the DISCO CULT team at the SUGAR FACTORY in Amsterdam where I focus on progressive club breaks, baille funk and figit house.FOR MORE INFO ON DISCO CULT: CLICK HERE

HISTORY

I've been in the music business since the mid 80's and started out as a professional DJ/party organiser with Soho Connection in Amsterdam. I'm also a club DJ and presented radio shows for many years. Since 2002 a big part of my focus as a DJ has been working alongside musicians and applying my knowledge in studio productions with projects such as Electro Coco and Jazz Juice and I've just finished the production of my first solo album with 5 tracks featured on the player above. read more....
MUSIC PRODUCTIONS

Since 2002 a great deal of my focus has been on studio production work and two main projects with former colleague ALAIN ESKINASI. Our first CD album release won an EDISON AWARD called "COCO DO MUNDO" by ELECTRO COCO. As the production duo of JAZZ JUICE we have scored five singles and a CD/album called "52ND STREET". I've also produced a couple of singles of my own and my first solo album "NO ROOM FOR CHAIRS" will be out in the shops in February. If all goes according to plan this will be followed later in the year by the release of a 2nd JAZZ JUICE album. .
