Treibsand

„Treibsand“ (German for „quicksand“) is a one-man-darkwave-gothic-project from Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
In the year of 2004 Treibsand was founded by Yann, who had served as guitarist and singer in various New-Metal Bands in the area of the Bavarian Freising. After the first attempts in the own recording studio, the first song “Blade Edge” was released in early 2005. As the number of songs increased, so did the number of listeners that grew to be a small but exclusive circle. Comparisons were made: Next to established bands from the scene like “Diary of Dreams”, who can indeed be mentioned as influence, critics drew parallels to heavy weights of musical history such as David Bowie. Although attempts to find a label for Treibsand failed, new songs evolved at increasing skill levels in the "fiction factory", what Yann likes to call his studio.
2008 marked a turning point in the history of the band. Up till then, Treibsand had been music exclusively distributed online. In February the first “traditional” release took place, in form of a participation in the “mumm!”-Sampler by Danse-Macabres sub-divisional label “Biohazzard Records”. Later that year it was possible to see the band live on stage thanks to guest musicians. The response was overwhelming and calls for repetition arose. Unfortunately Yann moved his base from Freising to Münster at that time.

”Treibsand” ist ein Ein-Mann-Darkwave-Gothic-Projekt aus Münster in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Im Jahr 2004 wurde Treibsand von Yann begründet, der zuvor in der Umgebung des bayerischen Freising in diversen New-Metal Bands als Gitarrist und Sänger tätig war. Nach ersten Gehversuchen im eigenen Heimstudio erschien Anfang 2005 mit „Blade Edge“ der erste Song im Internet. Mit der Zahl der Songs wuchs auch die Fangemeinde auf einen kleinen, eingeschworenen Kreis an. Vergleiche wurden angestellt: Neben etablierten Szene-Bands wie „Diary of Dreams“, die tatsächlich als Einflüsse genannt werden können, wurden von Kritikern auch Parallelen zu Größen der Musikgeschichte wie David Bowie gezogen. Auch wenn Versuche, Treibsand bei Labels unter zu bringen vorerst erfolglos blieben, entstanden in der „Fiction Factory“, wie Yann sein Studio zu nennen pflegt, immer mehr neue und ausgefeiltere Songs.
Einen Wendepunkt in der Geschichte der Band stellte das Jahr 2008 dar. War Treibsand bisher nur Musik zum Anhören im Internet, kam es nun zur ersten „traditionellen“ Veröffentlichung auf einer CD: Treibsand beteiligte sich am ersten „mumm!“-Sampler des Danse-Macabre-Ablegers „Biohazzard Records“. Später im selben Jahr gelang es mit Gastmusikern einen ersten Live-Auftritt zu bestreiten. Die Resonanz war überwältigend und der Ruf nach Wiederholung wurde laut, doch genau da verlegte Treibsand seine Heimat von Freising nach Münster.
Vorläufig bleibt es also bei der Musikproduktion, doch weitere Konzerte sollen auch in der neuen „Heimat“ nicht all zu lange auf sich warten lassen.
