Well it all started back in the 80s with 2 Fisher turntables, a Gemini mixer, a Peavey CS 800 power amp, 2 2-12" Cerwin-Vega projection bottoms and 2 12" with horns.
My first paying gig was a bar in a bowling alley. Rolling lane's Golden Gate Lounge in Countryside, IL. The clientele was heavily into the country music. At the time I didn't care to much for it, but it did kinda grow on me. They needed cheap entertainment. I needed the money and experience. While working there I saved up and got some real turntables The Technics 1200 series and a coffin case.
Then got a 7 night a week gig at The Wind Up, a 24 hour club in Stone Park. I bought my first CD player while working there. It was a basic player for $400 bucks!
Shortly after that I started doing weddings, Then came my own wedding and children so I took some time off and worked a regular job.
Then I went to a friend's wedding in 96 and got bit by "DJ" bug again. By '97 got some new stuff and was doing weddings again. Using CDs was a welcome change from all of that heavy vinyl stuff. By late 07 got tired of all the never ending bridezillas. and my day job went form a 40 hour week to a 60 hour week. So I took some time off again.
Then I got laid off from my day job after 18 years.
So I figured this would be the perfect time to get back into the club scene. With new technology it's even easer than cd's! I have 18,000 tunes on a single hard drive, a 120 gig iPod and a newmark iDJ2 workstation. Tons of music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s all the way up to whats happening today. Including most music videos! I can't wait to get back into the groove!
