Chillini' A.K.A. Lyrical Greatness
BiographyInto the scene, September 7th, 1983, Chad Jamal Clayton A.K.A. Chillini' was born. A lone child, raised by his single mother, Chillini' started rapping at the age of 11. Free styling over 1994 hits such as "Like this and Like that" and "Ghetto Dreams", Chillini' constantly sharpened his skills on the Southside of Houston, Texas.Throughout the summer of 1996 Chillini' started recording over audio cassette tapes for six hours at a time. In 1999 he made his first attempt at diving into the rap world by introducing himself to Eric "Stacks Johnson" Cooper at one of the annual MLK block parties off of Reed Rd. and Martin Luther King Drive in South Park, Texas. Chillini' showcased his freestyle skills for Johnson and received a few minutes of constructive criticism. Rather than being discouraged by Johnson's words Chillini' left the meeting with added motivation and continued his quest to become a renowned rapper. In 2001, while still in high school Chillini' co organized the group Southside Tsunomi. Lasting only three years the group disassembled due to creative differences.
Choosing to pursue his rap career rather than try his hand at college Chillini' left high school remembering the words of Johnson and others including his close cousins encouraging his talent for free styling. In 2003, after years of constant free styling Chillini' began writing his thoughts down on paper. In a matter of weeks he completely filled up a 200 page tablet with a versatile set of lyrical content. Using a constantly ever-changing pattern he hand crafted a style all of his own, all while rapidly began to earn himself street credibility on the Southside of Houston.After officially earning a spot as one of the main attractions of Ballatican Entertainment in 2005, Chillini' hit the mix tape scene with the rest of the Ballaticians, including Jay Rich, Dista, Dello and Kinfolk Champ, on "Stay Bent: Volume I". Hits such as "Parking Perimeter" and "Show you how to Rob" penetrated the streets with ferocity. On the "Tha Ditch" track Chillini' revealed his rap philosophy in one smooth and agile stroke; "10% lyrics 90% deliverance." Setting in stone his belief that "its not completely about what your content is if you cant effectively deliver the message." Then in late 2005 the group recorded and filmed a video for the solid hit track "Getting Money Over Here". The video began airing on Street Flavor and BET creating even more buzz for the diverse rapper.With a constantly evolving style and an emphasis of on deliverance the rap game is sure to be feeling his wave of fresh air into the southside rap climate. Chillini's album is set to drop in the spring of 2009.
