SILKENS Sound embraces all genres of music - from rock to swing and reggae to funk this eclectic Dublin based group know no barriers when it comes to expressing themselves through music. They address materialism, sexism, past experiences, world issues, love interests, loss, moments of pure insanity, drugs, and anything and everything that invokes them to feel! Powerful raw sultry vocals lilt over thumping basslines and quirky guitars to give SILKEN a very unique sound which to date has attracted people of all ages and backrounds to their live performances

SILKEN BaCkRoUnD!!
Silken as is rose from the embers of Medusa in late 2006. Medusa fronted by Liza/ Nicky rampaged across the Dublin scene throughout 2004/2005, boasting TV apperances and support slots for international acts such as Sophie B. Hawkins. The Medusa line up saw constant change throughout 2006 as musicians departed and new ones arrived making live performances a rare joy for fans. With the departure of vocalist Liza in late 2006 saw the Medusa train grind to a halt ... temporally!!
A quartet of like minded musicians reformed under the name SILKEN and to date have spent the majority of their time in the studio writing and perfecting their new sound. With plans to start recording a new demo the SILKEN quartet emerged from the shed to debut their new rockier sound at the Emergenza Festival, which went down a storm with both the judges and audience as SILKEN took 2nd place overall in the Irish Final at Vicar Street on May 26th. Extra bonus for Laura nabbing best bassist of the evening and taking home a shiny new Musicman bass!

.... so plans for world domination through music are back on track as SILKEN take their new sound back to the studio - new demo with new sound in progress! Watch this space....
