How it all got started

This band was first formed in the heads of Morten Ramberg and Lars Rød-Eriksen back in the summer of 2003. They were currently playing in heavy/prog-rock outfit Sounds of Sane but felt that their ideas weren't right for that band and wanted to try something different. Lars and Morten soon met up with drummer Glenn Barmen.
The trio landed a gig backing norwegian countertenor Arvid Grøtting and during the rehearsals the three found that they had a good chemistry on stage and got along outside of the practice room as well. Could it last?
Instead of waiting around to find out, the trio started the search for more band members. Mortens childhood friend and former band buddy in local legends Port Moody Fire Department, Kevin Dippner, was ordered to move to Oslo and join the band immediately. As good luck would have it, he didn't mind at all.
Finding a lead singer was probably going to be harder, or so the guys thought. Fate struck and a cute little blond girl happened in on one of the bands jam sessions. She brought with her a very characteristic, dark alto voice and a somewhat nasty sense of humour. This was found suitable for the coveted spot of lead singer in the band, and Cecilie Halvorsen Egeland joined.
Zephire was born!

The rest of the story, so far

The band started writing songs and practicing april 2004. Lot's of beer and cigarettes were consumed and after about 6 months the band had a concert set ready and started looking for gigs.
Zephire's first gig was in february 2005 and several gigs followed during the spring and early summer, only pausing to record their first demo in Eldar Von Essen's studio in Spydeberg Norway.
Come autumn the band took a break from gigging and hid away in the practice room to write some more material. By the end of 2005 the band had made several new songs and were really starting to refine their sound. This resulted in several new bookings for 2006 as well the recording of three new songs. This time in the renowned Toproom Studio in Lunner.
As of the summer of 2006, the band has gone into hibernation. Cecilie has gone off to England to learn how to drink beer and eat vinegar-fries, and Kevin has left for China to discover the true meaning of life.
Finally in the godforsaken year 2009 we are back! New songs, new guts, a new guy but the same Zephire sound. Let the quest for the perfect song continue!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Cecilie Halvorsen Egeland, vocals
Kevin Dippner lead guitar
Morten Ramberg, guitars,vocals
Eirik Heen, bass
Glenn A. Barmen, drums, bells, and whistles
Influences: Between us we cover just about every genre you can think of.
Cecilie listens to a lot of power metal and stuff like that that no one else cares about ;) She also listens to a lot of this indie-rock that everyone is on about these days. Rumour has it, though, that you can find some other stuff in her record collection too.
Eirik listens mostly to alternative rock. His alltime favourites are Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon.
Kevin plays the lead guitar, so he'll basically listen to anything that has a guitar in it somewhere that he can record onto his computer, slow down to a crawl and play back 700 times until he's got it all figured out. We're talking everything from Hendrix to Guns 'n Roses here.
Morten is our pop alibi. He'll listen to almost anything as long as it's got a pop hook or some nice little piece of instrumentation somewhere.
Glenn is the drummer. He listens to anything as long as he's allowed to slap the furniture around at he same time. Rock, pop, metal, funk, blues, r&b and jazz is suitable for this.
Sounds Like: We don't like answering this question. Not because we're "above" everyone else or something, but just because we're too stupid to figure it out for ourselves.
Help is appreciated
