Moldova has only participated in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 2005 and 2006. This is due to the country only joining the European Broadcasting Union, which countries must be part of in order to compete in Eurovision, in late 2004. Moldova will probably make their third appearance in Eurovision in the 2007 contest, but will have to qualify from the semi-final as a result of their poor performance in 2006.
Moldova's worst placing was in Athens, Greece on May 20th, 2006, when Arsenium and Natalia Gordienko placed 20th with their song "Loca".
Moldova's best placing was in Kiev, Ukraine on May 21st, 2005, when Zdob si Zdub placed 6th with their song "Boonika Bate Toba".
Moldovan representative in Helsinki in 2007 will be Natalia Barbu. Due to Arsenium & Natalia Gordienko's failure to place in the top 10 in Athens in 2006, Natalia will compete in the semi-finals in Helsinki on May 10, 2007, with her song "Fight".
