Andras Koroknay

bass player, songwriter

About Me

András Koroknay was born 12th July, 1987 in Satu Mare, Transylvania. Music started to interest him at the age of 11. After trying several instruments (piano, guitar) he started playing the bass at the age of 14 mainly influenced by the top bass players of reggae music (Robbie Shakespear, Errol "Flabba" Holt, Aston "Familyman" Barrett) and the leading reggae band of Hungary, Ladánybene27 (internationally known as LB27). After some months of practicing, he learned to play the bass by himself. When he turned to 15 he started to play in a hungarian reggae band, called Re-G. Not so much later as a teenager he was said to be the best reggae bass player in Hungary. In October 2003 he became a founding member of a modern, electronic sounding world music group, the Folkfree Band which toured last winter featuring Freestylers' Mc SirReal & KW Arms (UK). As a guest musician he appeared on stage with LB27 and PASO. His music activiry isn't limited to the bass playing, as a sound engineer he controls the sound of the Folkfree Band in the studio sessions & also produces or mixes tracks for other Hungarian bands.
