The Felons

About Me

1. “THE FELONS: Soaring vocals reminiscent of Jeff Buckley and Muse, and fine, hard-edged rock melody.” Ayo, Five to See Live2. “THE FELONS: Sometimes trippy, sometimes '80s wave, always stylish and entertaining.” Ayo, Five to See Live3. “First and foremost, Dave Hickmott is more than just a vocalist; he is a singer. And in case you’re wondering, there is a difference. Dave is one of the stronger male singers I’ve heard in these parts in quite awhile. It is obvious that he has put a lot of work into his singing voice. The songs are reminiscent of what was played on The Edge during its heyday when alternative music actually mattered. It is refreshing to hear a rock band that harkens back to that period without sounding clichéd. And last but certainly not least, Fred Holston gives the band some great keyboard parts that help make the songs even catchier. The Felons may be a young band that has only been together for a year, but they already show more musical maturity than a lot of bands that have been playing for years.“ http://ghostofblindlemon.blogspot.com/4. “Dave’s vocals are dumbfounding really; the man oozes a talent I’ve still not managed to wrap my head around. And there is just something so wonderfully addictive about the hooks in their songs. Even though I do, admittedly, have a personal investment and interest in this band, I can honestly say they are doing something special for indie pop-rock, and a few young bands in this town should really come out and pay attention for two reasons: 1.) This band was formed by a sense of community and it shows and 2.) They fucking kick ass.” http://www.bocatinta.com5. “First up were the felons, who, with one performance, launched themselves damn near to the top of my 'favorite local band' list. outstanding group. i wish i had the know-how to describe them properly, but i'd call it dark, minor-chord-driven, sometimes-moody, sometimes-anthemic art rock. definite radiohead influence - mostly their early stuff (which, in my mind, is a good thing). 4-man band - geetar, keys, bass, drum. terrific voice on the lead, great falsetto. loved the way they weren't afraid to stop down the music and just feature the voice. keys were actually treated equally with the geetar (which i dig), and were very nicely done. fantastic stuff. where's the EP from these guys? forgot to ask. looking forward to seeing them again”. http://adventuresinlivemusic.blogspot.com/
