My Name is Nandano Brent Blackett. I hail from Christchurch New Zealand, and I now reside in the Byron Bay region of Australia.A little over 4 years ago I formed the band Razorjazz here in Mullumbimby on the north coast of new south wales, where I teamed up with long time friend and bassist Amirel Lachish.Amirel, born in Isreal is a world traveling bassist. He has worked in Israel, Japan, NewYork and Australia. He is known for his energetic funky playing style both on bass and keys. My personal favorite is his Hammond playing on much of the CD is a Hugh influence to the over all sound of the music.Drummer Jacob Mann and I are new old friends and rhythm brothers who have shared many stage gigs over the years. We have contributed as a team to the music in a myriad of styles and situations. Jacob is a recognized drummer with a musician’s resume that includes many well known acts from rock, blues, funk and not to mention jazz . The communication and groove he brings to the rhythm section allows each piece to stand out on it's own.The session for this CD took place in Amirel"s fabulous recording studio, an inspirational and creative environment. Playing in the studio for the first time the band had the edge and excitement that comes from having few preconceptions about the music. Bringing together the new group to record on the fly yielded a raw and immediate sounding session, with the energy of a live show.David Ades is one of Australia's most talented alto sax players, a true believer in the art. As well as being a high energy soloist, he is an asset to any musical project. His ability to find the heart of each piece, no matter what style, adds colors and textures that give the music more depth. His soloing and melodic sense contributed a great deal to the sound of the music.Paul chenard out of Montreal Canada, contributed some gorgeous soprano sax melodies and solos. With a tone reminiscent of the great Wayne Shorter, as well as a powerful Alto sax sound, Paul adds a strong voice to the music.All virtuosos, the open soloing gave them a chance to express who they are musically, and to communicate what they feel.Although drawn from different backgrounds, this group of musicians produce a distinctive sound, that is packed with emotion, energy and life.The music offers a diverse palette that appeals to all tastes, and was produced to entertain the listener. The musical experience takes them on a journey, that provides a view from the other side of our existence, where we are one with each others world. Free from the day to day buzz of our lives, we can listen with fresh ears, to the experience of sound that becomes more sensual, and more true.This could not have been possible without the great musicians involved. Their high level of musical expression and years of experience allowed for a spontaneous performance captured in time.
