SECTARA

SECTARA is a new band from Chicago, IL whose primary focus since their 2006 formation has been the development of an aggressively original sound. With a combined appreciation for classic bands such as Voivod, Cynic, Death, Godflesh, Napalm Death, Tool, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and Macabre SECTARA have achieved something monumental with the completion of their debut full length recording. With the immensely creative production skills of Neil Kernon SECTARA’s new album "Interstellar Terror -- Beneath the Eyes of Baines" helps to define new boundaries for the current "extreme music" landscape.
As it goes.....long time childhood friends and guitar players Alan Russell and Ryan Logsdon (whose jamming history goes back decades) found kindred experimental spirits in drummer Garret Scanlan (of Chicago's Corpsevomit and Peoria's Lividity) and bassist/vocalist Paul Herzog (of Philadelphia's Total Fucking Destruction). A long series of dedicated rehearsals and demoing formed the basis for the progressive, tightly executed work displayed on "Interstellar Terror...". At times technically outrageous, SECTARA never lose sight of a dissonant style distinctly their own. Soaring psychedelic vocals are obtusely contrasted by 90's death-metal satanicos. A striking balance and absorbing atmosphere are always present during a constant barrage of intricate musicianship.
