Lifestyle, interior, architectural, and fashion photographer, film maker, and artist, Michael Mundy excels at whichever visual hat he chooses to wear. Remarkably self-taught, Michael has collaborated with and/or shot for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Chuck Close, Santiago Calatrava, Carolina Herrara, and Valantino to name a few.Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Michael Mundy had a strong interest in cinema at an early age. By the late 1970’s, Michael entered an art high school, only leaving soon afterwards opting instead to pursue his dreams professionally.Michael continued to develop his skills as a filmmaker, documenting local rock bands in the 1980’s while making art films in the underground film festivals. At nineteen, to support his filmmaking, Michael was introduced into interior photography, assisting full time for a renowned photographer, and traveling around the world on numerous assignments. He used his assignments at New York Magazine, Town & Country, and Travel & Leisure from which he could develop his own unique photographic sensibility, drawing inspiration from his cinematic background. At the age of twenty-five, Michael landed an exclusive contract with Conde Naste; and has since received international recognition for his body of work.In addition to photography and cinema, Michael has also been involved with the development and creation of lifestyle and art magazine Issue. Michael was a regular contributor for Issue, covering such storys like that of rock band’s 16 Horsepower leading performer - David Eugene Edwards during his tour, break-up, and evolution of his new band - Woven Hand.
