My name is James Patrick Tressel, or as my friends know me- Jim. I am the head football coach at THE Ohio State University, where I've been since the end of 2000 when I replaced John Cooper. He did such a good job, I even won a division 1-A national title with his players! Anywho, I was born on Dec. 5, 1952 in Mentor, Ohio. I attended Berea High School and got my undergraduate degree in education from Baldwin-Wallace College, I graduated magna cum laude just so you know. I then got my masters in education from Akron in 1977.
Since then I've combined my love for teaching and football by teaching football to America's youth at numerous institutions in various assistant and position coaching posts. I really put the Jim Tressel name on the coaching map by winning four, yes count them four, division 1-AA titles while being the head coach at Youngstown State Univesity. I was then asked to become the head coach at Ohio State, where on Jan. 3, 2003, we capped off an inprobable undefeated season by pulling the biggest upset in college football history by beating the "unstoppable" Miami Hurricanes in Tempe, Az.
Since then we've been fortunate enough to win three more bowl games against great opponents. Since coming to Columbus, our boys have beat the school up north four times in five attempts, which I know means a lot to Buckeye Nation. Presently I live in Upper Arlington with my wife Ellen. We have four children: Zak, Carlee, Eric, and Whitney, whom we're very proud of.
