Reading this stuff always makes me laugh because you try to say something creative and cool, but it always comes out sounding lame. Whatever. Here goes.
I always say "I need it" when I probably just want it. (I see no point in cake if you're not going to eat it, too. Who the hell does that, anyway?) I was born and raised a preachers kid and have all the baggage that goes with that. I'm honest and open-minded, but I have strong opinions. You probably don't want to talk to me about religion, politics or the general state of the world, for instance. :)
I'm sometimes emotional despite myself. I like to be in control, and while I am fully aware that's not always possible, I still don't like it when I'm not. I love to laugh and have a good time. I'm usually cynical but wish I wasn't. I'm willing to make mistakes. In fact, some of my best life experiences have been born out of mistakes. I try not to regret things -- even the bad things. I hate it when I get caught up in emotional bullshit. It's why I dislike most people, actually. Life is tough enough with all it's insanity and worry -- relationships and friendships and things that should be escapes from the harsh reality of the world shouldn't be just as difficult. Take me as I am, heaping piles of faults and all, and I will do the same for you.
I am an artist. I hate the term "free spirit" because it sounds so hokey, but I think that's mostly what I've always been. I love my family unconditionally. I have been married to my best friend for nearly a dozen years. I recently moved from Houston, where I was born and raised, to Scottsdale. I have become surprisingly domestic in the last couple of years since moving out here, and what's even more surprising is that I don't think that's a bad thing!
It should be noted that I have a bit of an Angelina Jolie fetish. Is there a hotter woman on the planet? I vote no. Well, Katherine Moennig maybe. Girls are pretty.
I like to have a martini, two at the very most - after three I'm under the table; after four, I'm under the host. -- Dorothy Parker
Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination. -- Oscar Wilde
Up in the heights of the evening skies, I see my City of Cities float in sunsets golden and crimson dyes; I look and a great joy clutches my throat! Plateau of roofs by canyons crossed; windows by thousands fire-furled - O, gazing, how the heart is lost in the Deepest City in the World. -- James Oppenheim (About New York)
Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't. -- Eleanor Roosevelt
Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. -- William Shakespeare
Truth and reality in art do not arise until you no longer understand what you are doing and are capable of but nevertheless sense a power that grows in proportion to your resistance. -- Henri Matisse
