There is nothing much to say apart from that i feel like i work 25 hours in each day every week of the year since deciding to leave the nursing profession in 2003 to chase a dream that i'd had since i was 19 years old - to work in music full time.
Cutting a long story very short, in Novemeber 2004 with the help of DJ Serna (who I'd met that summer & DJ'd at CRUZE-IN with) ... www.factoriasonora.co.uk was opened ... all from 1 box of second hand records and the invaluble
help of Frantic, who I can never thank enough, and the continuing support of Some very very good friends and of couse our families both so far away.
I'd been mixing hardcore/makina since the age of 24 years old but never imagined I'd eventually open a record shop, or be managing a few inhouse labels, or actually meet a man who could put up with me 24hours a day !
Now, Factoria Sonora UK (opened in Newcastle City Centre August 2005) is an online and offline music store exclusively for vinyl DJ's who play all types of European Hard Dance, Makina, UK Hardcore etc ... even gabber/hardcore and a bit of scouse and spanish hard house and jumper.
I'm also quite proud of the fact that the shop is providing support for people undergoing full-time courses in production at NEWCASTLE COLLEGE as well as supporting other new producers through their early years - hopefully our massive network & in-house labels will provide opportunities for them in the future(probably they will look back and cringe lol). FREE lessons @ the shop in Newcastle are helping to some excellent new djs who are already injecting some fresh sounds into the north-east scene, and also introducing some female talent into the scene. The younger they are, the faster they learn and their thirst and enthusiasm for the music makes this work all the more worth while, after all the kids are the future of todays music.
