True to his Scorpio sign, "The City" born KyQuan Powell-Upperman, graced the earth on November 10th 1984. The second of 3 children, immediately fell in love with music. The Brooklyn Ny native, got his first taste of hip hop at 2 yrs old, dancing and repeating the words to any and every song that played on the radio. At age 5, it was obvious to family and friends, that Kyquan would be destined for stardom. Over the Years, "City" traveled around the world with his mother, whom joined the Army when Kyquan was born. At 14, City found himself in Killeen TX. Attending 2 different High Schools due to his troubles outside of the classroom and the football field, City soon focused on Music. His love for hip hop soon led him to the sounds of Houston Tx artists by the names of Paul Wall, Slim Thug, DJ Screw, and Swisha House to mention a few. Not forgetting about his east coast roots, City started to perfect his craft, mixing his country grammar with his cityboy swagger. Soon after his junior year, The City was on the road again, headed for Montgomery AL. As a High School senior He Made his way to Alabama State University to compete in BET's Black College Tour's Freestyle Battle. As fate would have it, his dream was shattered as he was disqualified in the final round for his use of foul language. Soon after, City enlisted in the US Air Force and Landed his first assignment to England. Upon arrival, He met CEO of Upper Echelon Productions, Bradford "Skip" Trice and CEO of Illa Team, Caligrafi. With the help of both Companies, City landed the opportunities to open for the likes of Lil Wayne, Ginuwine, Jagged Edge, Blackstreet, Joe Buddens, and DJ Scratch, which gained him local fame in surrounding cities. Upon gaining new found fame, City opted to leave the military early to persue his hip hop dreams. With his smash hits "Ringtone" and "Act a Fool", he is well on his way to the top.
