About Me

I enjoy learning from people about their lives, or ideas, or simply anything I don't know about yet. So, because of my "endless curiousity" as a friend put it, I tend to ask lots of questions and I'm usually not satisfied with an answer like, "That's just how it is." What happened to the time when we were little and asked "why" all the time? Well, that was me as a kid and it still is me!Right now, my goals in life are to explore and travel more, learn as much as I can, find a career (or two or three) that I truly enjoy, and always appreciate family and friends.Things that are good: Chips and salsa- I could live off them. For some weird reason it's my comfort food. Sourdough bread....mmm...,Thai food, artichokes- yum- who would of thought that such a spiky little plant would taste so good? Any other foods that are spicy, sour, or involve vinegar, like pickles and lemons. I know, I'm weird. Hot towels from the dryer, the smell of rain, trees, nature, feeling the coastal breeze through an open window, camping near the beach, swimming in the ocean (at least after the first 5 minutes of freezing to death), working your butt off to hike up a hill and then standing at the top, sandboarding, feeling the rush of air and snow under your feet when skiing down a mountain, traveling, seeing thousands of years of history in a building or a place, going on a drive for no particular reason, weekend trips with friends, long conversations with friends, crazy adventures with my family, lying bed and reading a good book when I should be doing something more productive, making and eating crepes on a Sunday morning, playing in a concert band or duets and quartets, sightreading new music, the feeling on stage when you are a part of a huge sound and the after-performance rush and release of energy, listening to a piece of music that reminds me what it feels like to be alive.

My Interests

Music, piano, saxophone, reading, traveling, ballet, hiking, skiing, French, movies, hanging out with friends and family, having deep conversations beyond the surface of small talk and superficiality, going on drives, learning about anything new that's remotely interesting, trying new things

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can hold a decent conversation and has some sort of insight or knowledge that I can learn from- which includes most people in this world. :)

Music:

Lots of classical pieces, alt/modern rock, classic rock, some jazz/blues/funk- basically most genres. Bands and composers like Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Debussy, Vaughn-Williams, Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Holst, Stravinsky, Dave Matthews Band, Tower of Power, Beatles, Live, Tonic, Third Eye Blind, Bad Religion, Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Joshua Redman, and lots more... there's all kinds of songs out there that I've heard and liked...

Movies:

Goonies!, The Labyrinth, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, The Cutting Edge, Boondock Saints, Beetlejuice, Indiana Jones movies, LOTR, Austin Powers, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Office Space, Ferris Bueller, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, classic movies and musicals, Moulin Rouge, Little Women, Return to Me, and probably more I'm forgetting...

Television:

I hate to admit it, but I have one addiction: Lost. Yep, they reeled me in, too.

Books:

The DaVinci Code, Sophie's World, Michael Crichton books, Brave New World, Wuthering Heights, Shakespeare plays, and more I don't feel like trying to remember and list...

Heroes:

My mom and my grandmother- for their incomparable strength and wisdom. There's lots of people I admire, past and present, famous and familiar, but I couldn't really call them heroes, just amazing people.

My Blog

Culture, war, and political thoughts, so beware :)

This is my first time, I'm a virgin in the online journal/blog world, so here I go... Anyway, I think a lot about how absurd our world is sometimes...especially how absurd the American culture can be....
