About Me

My life pretty much revolves around studying how to play guitar and especially riffs and solos by my favorite bands. I've been playing for five years now. Guitar has become my life as it is an extension of my liking of metal and what I devote most of my free time to. I sometimes think of it as a way of therapy as well. If I have had a bad day, I can just sit back and practice for a few hours and feel better about everything after doing so. This has happened on so many occasions that I have learned that when all else fails, my guitar is there for me and it will never let me down. I am currently working on my own project band called "Beyond Recognition". You can listen to stuff I've recorded at www.myspace.com/beyondrecognitionmetal. Being a self taught guitarist, I'm always looking for that next challenging song to play, or a way to create new guitar sounds. I don't follow trends as I strive to create the kind of music I want to hear. My long term goals musically are to grow as a guitarist, be in a successful band, release some professional metal records, jam with some great musicians and hopefully jam with some of my heroes/influences. Basically, I would very much like to make a career out of music.I've recently gone on a weightloss crusade since the beginning of March 2009. Originally in April of 2007, I weighed 207 lbs. I lost some weight that year and got down to the mid 180's. Since March of this year, I've lost roughly 40 lbs. and am in the mid 140's with my weight right now. That means I've lost about 60 lbs. in almost 27 months as of late June 2009. I've finally achieved my target weight and am looking to just maintain now, which I am having a good time with and having fun hitting weights now lol. I think many people including my immediate family did not think that I could be as successful with this as I have been but I have proven everyone wrong. For that reason, I've learned for sure that anything is possible in life if you can be committed enough. This whole experience has helped me to put many things in perspective and grow mentally as well as re-shape my body. I feel I am now a much stronger person mentally than I ever have been, which is something I am very proud of...
