About Me

Marzio Scholten (1982) is considered as one of the most talented and promising jazz guitarists and composers of The Netherlands. In 2006 he graduated at the prestigious Conservatory of Amsterdam. (Here Marzio has studied with Jesse van Ruller, Martijn van Iterson and Maarten van der Grinten and followed workshops by a.o. Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Scofield, Pat Martino, John Clayton, Chris Potter, Bill Stewart, Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona and Mike Stern.)‘Motherland’, his critically acclaimed cd and debut as a leader, was released in June of 2008. With this cd Marzio has proven to already be one of Holland’s leading jazz guitarists. In 2009 he was nominated for the prestigious Deloitte Jazz Award and selected as ‘Artist Deserving Wider Recognition’ by Stichting JazzNL.Marzio has played on many stages and festivals in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Some of the more famous venues and festivals where he has played are Bimhuis, Vredenburg, The Hague Jazz, Jazz in Duketown, East of Eastern Festival, Utrecht Jazz Fest, Amersfoort Jazz Festival and SJU Jazzpodium.
