Earth Dies Screaming (R.I.P)

About Me

..
Why hello there, we’re Earth Dies Screaming. Five mates from the South of England rocking out to some fast hardcore punk. Formed by Dan (bass) & Sheldon (lead guitar) sometime around August 2006 but silent for about a year, also with no idea what direction the band would go musically we just went with the flow, then we asked Rob if he’d like to drum with us. Thinking it would be a great idea if Toby of Heroic Doses would join as vocalist we did two gigs as a 4-piece then Jon joined the team on guitar. We have members of Only Until… and Heroic Doses & Dan was one of the founding members of My Last Victim but don’t really sound like any of those bands (so why I bothered mentioning them…) and have just put out our visit 7” on Hollow Soul/Home Of The Brave Records which we are rather proud of. Come see us live or book us for a gig, we’re cheap as they come and are armed with Sheldon’s distro!

Here's some reviews of the 7":
"Damn! New UK band out of nowhere delivers a mighty fine debut 7". This is folk from Heroic Doses and Only Until, busting out 8 mostly short tracks of dynamic hardcore punk. They manage to fuse the livewire blast of modern sounds like Loser Life with the melodies of older fare such as Articles of Faith, with a few guitar solos thrown into the mix. Plus a 44 second long "cover" of "Black Knight". Pick of the bunch is the blazing "We Command That You Have the Body", replete with rampant guitars that pile on the pressure to great effect. Only one song of this 8 track assault dares break the two minute mark, so you know what you're in for. Quick hitting hardcore punk that has knocked you on your arse and run off laughing before you even realise what's going on. Sound!" (Andy Malcolm - Collective Zine)
"Noisy punk rock from ex-members of Heroic Doses; the eight tracks are angry, the guitars buzz, the singer shouts and although the sound makes me feel like I’m listening to an old demo tape, that somehow adds to the impact and it all adds up to a rather fine 7” EP. The opening track, “Blinded By The Light” treads the same ground, lyrically, as GO!’s “Holy Roller” in its condemnation of Bad Brains’ homophobia, whole the rest of the lyrics are also worth following as you listen; it’s nice to see that some bands still realise that punk rock is, or should be, protest music. It’ll only cost you £3.50". (Tony Whatley - Supect Device Zine)
"Thrashy old-school punk with screamed vocals and gratuitous solos. Sounds a little like they're pullin' from Land Speed-era DU. Absolutely ridiculous cover art that's almost so bad it's good. As a whole, this record is not too bad but the solos can be a bit much" (Paul Lucich Maximum Rock 'N' Roll)
"Influenced by '80's hardcore legends Black Flag, Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys, this five piece from the South of England have been around since '06 but have recently had a line up change and are now killing it. Get their blazing self titled 7" now from their myspace page. Get in the pit!" (Big Cheese Magazine)
"I love it when a band blows me away. It's one of the greatest feelings ever! I saw Earth Dies Screaming play before I had properly heard their record and I was pretty damn wowed by their energy. It's nice to say that the ferocious energy of these five southern boys is not lost on record. This 7” is eight tracks (in just over ten minutes) of noisy, fast and furious punk rock drawing influences from the eighties greats like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Husker Du and Government Issue. Just like their live show it knocks you right out of your bobby socks. Hooray! The lyrics are suitably angry and pissed off, taking on homophobia and apathy. Stand out tracks for me are ‘EDS’ and ‘What’s the Butter Situation’. Musically they are mega tight and the vocals rule. If you haven't heard this yet, hear it! If you haven't seen EDS yet, do it!"
