Abortion: I'm Pro-Choice. And that means just what it says, CHOICE. I am for the right to choose. That's all.
Education: For many years I've known it needs a major overhaul. Compared to other 'First World' nations, we have a piss poor literacy rate. One reason for that(this is just my opinion mind you), is that in the media we see too many celebrities who have 'made it' without a serious education. Another reason is textbooks, they're not really helpful in teaching. Then there's teachers and parents, and the bureaucracy of the school system. I think a non-compulsory education system might help, or more home schooling. Not sure though, I will research and come up with what I think would be a good plan to help schools truly educate.
The death penalty: I'm not a fan of the idea of killing people because killing people is wrong. Instead of applying the death penalty to murderers, maybe apply it to child molestors or animal abusers?
Free speech: I am very glad I have to right to say whatever I want. However I think we sometimes forget simple human decency. The first amendment was put in so people could feel free to voice differing opinions about the government or religions without being labelled a traitor and get thrown in jail if not killed outright, since this country was full of people who had fled here to escape religious/political oppression. I do not believe free speech was ever intended to be an excuse to spew hate like some groups do. That's why I will never mention them by name, because I will not give them any more acknowledgement. I would rather give Britney Spears free publicity. Gods I can't believe I just said that...I am getting nauseous from all the free press she's getting. I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH BRITNEY SPENDS AT THE DRIVE-THRU!
Homosexuality/Gay Marriage: With all the awfulness going on in the world, I do not get why people would not be for two people in a healthy loving relationship. Any leaning I might have had towards homophobia went bye-bye with the Willow/Tara relationship on Buffy. They were my all-time favorite couple. They were just two people in love, who happened to both be women. It was portrayed so naturally. I'm not big on romance, but they always will be one of the exceptions.
Global warming: I'm on the fence about it, I don't know if it's just one of the natural trends of climate change, or if it is caused by human pollution. I do know that regardless, we need to reduce pollution/waste. I like to think I'm doing my part, with reusing pretty much everything I can, and growing my own produce(or at least what I can in the short growing season I have here), raising multi-breeds of chickens for eggs(hope to get a milk goat soon), shopping smarter(all should read Rainforest in Your Kitchen, the whole title is longer than that, but look for it), etc.
Illegal Immigration: Talked to my mother about this today(11-4-07) actually. I wondered why people complain that no one enforces laws, then support illegal immigrants. Yes some of them are trying to better the lives of their families, but you can't pick and choose which laws to enforce. If you don't like a law, work to get it changed. Don't break it and then complain no one follows the law anymore.
