I finally got a vacation in Aruba and... it was amazing! I cant wait to go back with my wife and daughter, Aruba was just a dream come true vacation spot, if you have never been you need to go at least once.
oh yeah did you hear that... I am finally MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my wife, she is the cupcake'in'est!
thank you LIFE! life is good!
Some history on me - I got into hardcore/skater music in highschool but I also listened to rap, then I started dj'ing in college during '91 with a radio show at UVM playing hiphop, rap and reggae. that was when I first heard early techno which really caught my eye.
I got my own turntables in '93 and started playing anywhere I could get booked, mostly at house parties or skateshop events (thanks Samurai Skates and Groove Spot!). My tastes were harder techno house stuff and it was hard to find records but some local radio DJs showed me where to get access to the backrooms of local stores to handpick vinyl before it went out to the general public. Soon I was a guest on the local radio show Digitalis with dj's like Reynard D. Fox, Ezra, Derrick, Rob Morley, etc etc. Over the next few years I dj'd alongside most of upstate NY's best and worst electronic music dj's and threw a few parties too, never made much money but always had a great time, man it was fun.
Around '95 is when I got into playing with synthesizers and drum machines, learning from people like Mark Gage and DV8, the host of a huge clubnight in Rochester @ Heaven nightclub. Soon I started a group "Point Alpha" with a close friend, Luke who was smothering himself in the minimal techno sound, he found some amazing tunes I had missed over the years... DBX stuff, Basic Channel, Tresor, etc. As Point Alpha we played all over NY state, PA and OH. It was wicked fun... nothing like tweaking sounds live in response to the crowds cheers and shaking the foundation of a warehouse with 20,000 watts of a famous J.Wolfe sound system.
Ive dj'd all sorts of music since '91, from rap to house and on to techno, then found breakbeat, hardcore and ultrabeat, into jungle and drum'n'bass. As electronic dance music evolved into specific genres like trip-hop, intelligent d'n'b, minimal techno, sweedish techno, trance, bootyhouse, it was crazy how much music was out there but it was sad when people got too focused on one single genre or sub genre and became elitist or snobby, what a shame.
I still have a lot of mixtapes Ive made over the years and hope to get some onto cd and uploaded here to share. Some of my best tapes are electro, d'n'b and techno, Ive played a lot of different stuff, its all such good music!
since dropping out of the scene because it died out around me and wasnt full of amazing music anymore, Ive spent a lot of time with the car tuner scene and had a lot of fun autocrossing and building faster cars. But I'm out of that game now and glad to be, there is so much machismo and immaturity in the car scene.
I do still have all of my records, tons and tons of records, holy shit there is some good techno and drum'n'bass in here, WOW! finally got a 2nd turntable after years of either none or just one, so its feeling great to get back on the decks and mash some beats again... hey its just like riding a bicycle!
woooooohaaaaaaaaaaaa!
