The group consists of drums [Oliver], acoustic guitar/vocals [Silvio], keyboard [Roberto], bass [David], and alto saxophone [Kate].Sangre Latino's music is a fusion of many styles, including reggae, Afro beat, salsa, samba, and funk rock. Our set includes numbers from Bob Marley, Manu Chou, traditional Spanish music, and our own original tracks.Silvio Rossi leads the group with his singular stage performances and songwriting. A native of Italy fluent in Spanish, Italian and English, he writes passionate lyrics of human oppression, careless destruction of the planet, and romance.
Silvio is an avid environmentalist. He spends time in Mexico at events organised to create awareness of the plights of the native peoples, an ideal that is reflected in his lyrics.
Silvio has been busy writing, and the band has nearly finished recording the its debut album. Our drummer, Oliver Loughnan, has been busy recording the new material and we are excited about the new material which we hope will include a single release.Roberto Caraza, another native of Italy, plays piano and keyboards for the group. After studying for over ten years in classical and jazz music in a top music institute, he turned his attention towards Latin music, though his classical and jazzs roots remain.Oliver Loughnan is the heartbeat of Sangre Latino, having played drums with us for over three years. His sole focus is on playing with the group, producing our music and establishing a reputation for high-end Latino fusion here in Ireland. Oliver has been studying the polyrhythmic nature of Latin music, with especial interest in clave patterns and conga technique along with his drumkit playing. Hailing from a fusion musical backround including hip hop, traditional Irish music, progressive metal, rock, Latin jazz, and drum n bass, Oliver keeps the beat of Sangre Latino pumping.Bassist David Duffy joined Sangre Latino in 2006 after graduating from UCC with a music degree. David adds his musical talents to the band as an all around player and arranger.Kate Runde, the saxophonist, comes from two years of applied classical saxophone study at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She is now a full-time student in arts and music at UCC and a new addition to Sangre Latino. Her musical background ranges from classical wind ensemble and chamber music to big band swing clarinet and combo jazz
