Joe Gibbons

Hello my names Joe Gibbons i've been singing now for about 3 and a half years and i am 16 years of age and i am a singer/songwritter. i do gigs in resturants such as the boatyard in lea on sea and i also do weddings which if you go to my website,www.joegibbons.co.uk, you can book me for weddings and dinner music. I do a wide range of songs from the great american song book but i also sing with a trio and we do alot of our own songs along side some great swing covers so if you would like to book me with of without the band its totally up to you. I also sing around london jazz clubs for example pizza express jazz club in soho, 606 jazz club and i have sung in Ronnie Scotts to. I first starting singing to my self only messing around and taking off people and then one day, in a music lesson, i began to sing come fly with me on a mic and i was only mucking around with my friends but my friend james said "mate you can sing". At first i only thought he was joking then he dragged in the music teacher and made me sing infront of her. So i did and then after i had finished she told me i was in a school concert next week and i though why not! After performing in a few school concerts i decided to take singing up seriously and starting practicing as many songs as i could and learning my trade. most of the songs i know are from the great american song book but all the songs that i write myself are influenced alot by soul, blues, indie, jazz and pop basiccally trying to make up my own sound which i have been doing for the last year. Any way one day i was asked to sing at one of my teachers leaving doos and it was at this amazing resturant called the boatyard in lea on sea and performing there also that night was the great John Wilson Orchestra and it was great to see a live band play. little did i know that i would be sing with them. I had to sing My Way for the teacher who was leaving and after the band had heard me sing the lead singer come up to me and said would i like to sing I've got you under my skin with the band. I jumped at the opertunity and the night went great after that i started getting more gigs at weddings and partys. Then my manager heard about a boy who was 16 singing the songs of the oldies and got in contact with me straight away. ever since then i have been singing with ronnie scotts musicians and writing my own material and its been brilliant! you can catch my new material at my gigs up london anytime i have a show.
