Todd Cook’s second release, Hunting Ground, draws inspiration from both the lush green fields of Gippsland where he grew up, and the rich, remote areas of the Northern Territory which have become a second home.Each song on Hunting Ground, due out in November 2009, reveals a meeting place for sounds, techniques and lyrics that connect north to south, remote to mainstream, and traditional to contemporary. It was recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Drouin and is a collaboration of Gippsland talents.Todd’s emotive lyrics, his earthy tones and raw appeal connect to a wide variety of listeners. His songs float from intricate folk finger-picking styles through to driving grooves and blues riffs. His music takes the audience on a journey from dark turbulent songs witnessed first hand living when Todd was living in a remote Northern Territory community to lively acoustic that engage and entertain.In 2007 Todd’s debut album So Long was well received with wide air play on Triple J’s- “Roots ‘n All” , P.B.S – “Roots of Rhythm”, Gippsland FM, Radio Blues- “Cross Blues” ( France) and Radio Vilafant- (Spain).Todd has played headline shows at the Evelyn Hotel-Brunswick, Veludos- St.Kilda and packed out shows at The Old Drouin Butter Factory. In 2008 he also travelled through regional areas of Western Victoria on the back of the Album. Todd has shared the stage with: Direct Influence, Skipping Girl Vinegar, Carus Thompson, Kavisha Marezella, Luke Watt and Danny Burton.
