About Me

David Taylor was born in 1978 in London and first studied piano under Clara Rodriguez from the age of seven, later taking up percussion and organ. He studied composition at Middlesex University with Dr Francois Evans and graduated with a BA (hons) Music in 1999. He went on to take up the position of Organist and Choirmaster at St John the Divine Church, South Wimbledon and pursued a career in choral direction, studying for a time with Prof. Paul Spicer at the Royal College of Music. After two years as a free-lance musician in London working with local and central music groups and choirs including the London Philharmonic Choir, David has gone on to persue his musical career in Australia where he is currently Organist and Director of Music at St. Mary's Church, Sydney. He is also founder and director of the New London Camerata chamber choir.In addition to his position at St Mary's, David continues to work free-lance and is in increasing demand as a guest conductor, working with choirs such as the Jacobean Singers and the Eastern Sydney Chamber Choir, of which he was recently made director.David is also available as a tutor, both privately and peripatetically in keyboard, percussion and theory.To book David for work, or to arrange a meeting, please contact him on: [email protected] view some of his compositions, visit: www.members.sibeliusmusic.com/dtaylor
