27-year-old Jacob Luttrell is no stranger to the music business. Hailing from Fresno, California, Jacob, like many of the great artists of the last century, found his love for music in the church. It was there that he learned intricate harmonies, develop his amazing piano feel and discovered his life’s passion. An almost entirely self-taught musician, Jacob not only plays the piano and sings, but is also an accomplished drummer, guitarist, and saxophonist.
After leaving Fresno to pursue greater opportunities in the world's music hub, Los Angeles, Jacob soon found favor with Randy Jackson, who offered him a job singing background vocals with American Idol’s Kelly Clarkson & Clay Aiken. From his first audition with Randy to the present, Jacob has found himself on a whirlwind ride to stardom. From performing duets on the road with Kelly, to touring with Clay, and eventually, to performing with world class performers like John Mayer, Fergie (The Black Eyed Peas), Howard McCrary, Glen Lewis, and Macy Gray, Jacob has become the kind of artist that makes the music community and public alike sit up and take notice. Most recently, Jacob performed as a part of the Kelly Clarkson "Addicted" Tour 2006 visiting 30 cities in July and August. He is a favorite performer along the L.A. club scene where he frequents such legendary hot spots as The Roxy, Guy's, and The Mint.
Jacob’s current release “Old Soul†has a nostalgic quality and feels that invites one to remember and appreciate the true musicality of days gone by. His mesmerizing voice and soulful expression allow listeners to accompany him on the myriad of journeys he takes in every live performance. Nearly everyone who's ever met, worked with, or seen Jacob perform at any length finds themselves captivated by the depth of his material, his poignant lyrics, and the genius of his musicality. In the middle of Jacob's personal audition for the Kelly Clarkson "Independent" Tour 2003, Kelly was so moved by Jacob's performance that she literally jumped from her chair shouting "Sing, Boy!" That mutual admiration and respect continues to prevail in their relationship and with virtually every other artist that he has had the opportunity to work with. If the label, "artist," is meant to describe a performer who gives all of themselves in the expression of their work, then that title has never been more deserved.
Watch for Jacob as he brings his unique blend of acoustic soul, enticing melodies, and undeniable star power to a venue near you!
