About Me

Kenrick Patrick was born in Trinidad, but moved to Jamaica in the early 1950's, where he enjoyed success as a calypso singer, and later as ballad singer and Ska vocalist.
He recorded Kingston Town for Clanncy Eccles, and legend has it that when Kenrick had become a homeless vagabond in the 80s, he was spotted destitute on the streets of Kingston by Eccles, to whom he owed $30. When his old friend called out to him Kenrick ran off, thinking that he had come to collect his debt, and Clancy chased and cornered him giving him the good news that his signature tune had been used by British group UB40, and that there were substantial royalties to collect. ..
