Bodene's (Falmouth)Punk Is Dead!!
Not in Cornwall it ain't me ansomes !!
Went to the famous Prince Of Wales live venue in sunny Falmouth tonight and saw probably (no....fuck it ....definitely!) the finest middle aged Punk Rock covers band ever to come from the town.
The evening started with a blistering set from support artist Doc-Rob (highlight being the "hrrrgh" at the end of "Wild Thing") and the impatient crowd were doubting that the headliners could follow such a performance but we shouldn't have worried.
The Pistoleros (for it is them that we went to see) came on stage to the delight of the crowd. Performing a set of original material interwoven with classics that we crave. Highlights were many (though I have to be honest and admit I could only stay for the first blistering set) with the original material standing out as top quality.
Damien "Luther Vandross" gave probably the best vocal performance I have ever heard from a Ex Falmouth Town & Tr*ro City player. Cake & John played like a powerhouse and the little drummer chap didn't do bad either ( ;-) Serves you right for the "We are L**ds" lines) hee hee.
Best tracks for me were " Full On", "Boys Don't Cry" and of course the two gems that were "Wasted Life" (x to Lizzy) & the final track of set one "Teenage Kicks". Though to be honest there was no low points in the set (Well except for Leons interjections!! lol )
Other gems included the Who covers of "The Kids Are Alright" & "Substitute", the football chant version of "Mad World", "No More Heroes", "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" & "Ticket To Ride".
If you get a chance to see these boys in action - DO SO !!!
