187CALM

About Me

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, 187CALM roared onto the music scene in the early 90's, releasing albums in 1995 and 1998. We still have people asking where to find CD's and "what ever happened to..?". So hear ya go.

PRESS
"This is a stunning collection of pressurized, molecule-stuffed bursts of pent-up anger interspersed with slow, brooding monoliths of sound. The potential here is frightening. All in a wonderful effort from a band that should attract some major attention...”
-BAM, San Francisco
“It’s not often you come across a band that kicks out a magic spell as large as theses kids produce.”
-Cover, New York
“... finally receiving their long overdue stamp of respect in the Bay Area music scene... 187CALM are on the brink of breaking big. Recent shows with Type O Negative, BioHazard, Killing Joke and Stabbing Westward have provided even more oil to the gears of this ready to roll road warrior.”
-American Music Press, San Francisco
“There is just a strange sense of magic around this band that is completely indescribable.”
-Delirium, New York
“187CALM just spawned their new six-track CD recently and I’m at a loss to explain its power.”
-City Revolt, San Jose
“187CALM conjures up a unique, current sound that catapults aggressive guitar hooks into a cauldron of haunting bass lines and tribal drum beats. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of 187CALM and spinning it immediately.”
-Gavin Report, San Francisco
“Saying the band is “atmospheric’ is an understatement. Listening to 187CALM is like stumbling through a steamy Guatemalan jungle with a 104 degree fever. Major attention for these veterans is forthcoming to be sure.”
-BAM, San Francisco
“187CALM based in the San Francisco Bay Area became known for their smoky, claustrophobically atmospheric sound… a legendary live band that had the ability to gently bend the collective consciousness of an audience at will... the departure of 187CALM was as mysterious as their music...”
