Okay, so it's been getting a bit stale here. The petition to change the music licensing law was unsuccessful but the government says that they hope the new law won't impede too much on venues and infact make it easier to put on events.
Next year will be full steam ahead from september onwards, so pleace let me know if you'd like to get involved with the freshers fair and setting up our initial nights. Venues, bands, DJ's, Lighting Guys, Engineers are all welcome.
bands/dj's asking for gigs please remember that this is a collective so we are prepared to give anyone a gig regardless of experience/genre. It is however, done on a participation basis i.e. the more times you come to our events, the more people you bring and the more you help out the more likely you'll be to get a set.
This is Leeds Metropolitan Music Collective, founded by Music Technology students Johnnie Rogers, James Winstanley and Alan Caulton in 2006. We aim to give university, UK, local bands and musicians the chance to play on a regular basis to showcase their music in different venues within Leeds and its surrounding area.
Our initial objectives are to achieve the following goals
• Create a network of musicians
• Provide support for musicians and those who wish to put on events
• Create a network of sound engineers, lighting engineers and technicians available for events
• Provide a link between local venues and artists
• Provide an open source for information and experience to those interested
The collective is free to join and job roles are arbitrary, any like minded people are welcome to try and achieve the aforementioned goals. We strongly encourage participation from others and any questions will be answered without hesitation. Feel free to contact us at [email protected], or by sending a message or comment through myspace.
