In February 2008 SQ Club became the first Polish club to be nominated for inclusion in the TOP 100 CLUBS 2008 list, published and organised by the world's most respected dance music publication, the UK's DJ MAG. In December 2007 SQ Club was voted Club of the Year 2007 by the Polish version of ..DJ MAG.., justifying their choice by saying: “for 2 years now SQ Club has worked tirelessly at developing its brand, and it has really paid off. Never before has a Polish club put on internationally recognised artists with such regularity and gained such popularity from clubbers. The stars who play at SQ are invariably won over by the club's vibe and always want to come back as soon as possible.”
In December 2006 SQ Club beat off clubs from Warsaw, Krakow and the Tri-City area to win the 'Night Brand' award for 'Club of the Year 2006' from the magazine Aktivist . Among the jury's comments upon reaching their decision were: “SQ shines bright in the country's clubbing firmament, acting as a calling card for Poznan”; “Several times every month the club is graced by stars from all over Europe”; “The best advertisement for the club is that – as was once the case with Sopot's Sfinsk – people travel to parties at SQ Club from all over the country”.
SQ Club, situated in Poznan's Stary Browar complex, is the venue for numerous artistic events, from exhibitions, concerts and private gatherings to club nights featuring well-known European and American artists.
The club residents, Base, Juniore (muzikanova.pl / DabitemWucho) and Hagal (soundrevolt.com) attract a large crowd of loyal clubbers and are often invited to play in other clubs in Poland and abroad. The radio shows they host present cutting edge sounds and provide many listeners with exciting new musical experiences.
SQ Club also puts on concerts performed by stars of the world of electronic music, both in the club and in less conventional venues such as the Stary Browar Atrium. Such events have so far included Matthew Herbert, as part of his European tour, Smolik, The Cinematic Orchestra, Kosheen, Roisin Murphy, De Phazz and Nouvelle Vague.
In the summer SQ Club organises large outdoor events such as 'SQ Delight' and 'Fever In the City' in the Castle Courtyard, Poznan, which attract thousands of clubbers from all over the country. Many clubbers also have fond memories of the two-day event, 'SQ at Hell', which took place on the sea beach at Hel last summer. There is a good chance that this will become an annual summary of what has been going on at SQ Club throughout the year.
