Caroline Rothstein

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Caroline Rothstein is a spoken word poet, writer, and activist living in New York City. A 2006 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she was both a member and the director for Penn's only spoken word performance poetry group - The Excelano Project. She is a two time U Penn Grand Slam Champion, and joined the Penn slam team at Collegiate Nationals four years in a row - twice on the slam team, three times as a coach - helping to bring the team to finals every year, including first place in 2007 and 2009. She is a proud member of the Intangible Collective; she has competed and performed at venues and colleges all over the country, and was on the New Paltz New York team at the 2008 National Poetry Slam.A longtime activist in eating disorder recovery, she hosts a widely viewed YouTube blog sharing her own recovery story as a means to promote positive body image worldwide. She hosts the Internet blog, "The Road Less Traveled By/," has been published in various literary journals, and recently finished writing her first non-fiction book. She has two self-published books of poetry, "This Book Wrote Itself" (2009), and "What I Learned in College" (2006), both available for purchase at www.carolinerothstein.blogspot.com. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Science program at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
