[email protected] FROM ROCK HARD DECEMBER 2007 ISSUE (GR)We have plenty of talented musicians in our country, a great number of bands with dynamics, although our fame in Europe is negative. Unfortunately, only a few of them have crossed the Greek borders, for a respectable carrer, but ARKENSTONE are an example to be followed, for all those who carry a hope. Having begun with a more epic style, 7-8 years ago, they have developed into a modern machine of heavy-thrash, absorbing influences ranging from SLAYER, IN FLAMES, HAUNTED, OVERKILL and MAIDEN (listen to the title track, or the solo of “Forevermoreâ€), to their love of ICED EARTH (especially in Herck’s clean vocals). Fighting against the line-up changes and the difficulties of not living in Athens, they made it to the studios of our beloved R.D. Liapakis in Germany. His experience and dedication facilitated in obtaining volume in the heavy sound of ARKENNSTONE, which binds well with the grinding vocals of Endal. Although the drums were recorded locally, their sound is worthy of the technique of Nvital. If you’re wondering why I’m so complimenting, I could say that their mixture of traditional heavy metal (pay attention in the opening of “Psychopath’s salvationâ€) with modern thrash, sounds excellent, making “Dead human resource†worthy of being officially released by a major label. The band has the capabilities and dedication it takes to succeed. Highlights include “Fall†and “Eyes of the dark†that stuck from the beginning. In a few words, “Dead human resource†is bridging tradition with modernity, heavy with thrash!George “Kay†Koukoulakis
