Evidence: An Art Show About Police Brutality

About Me

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS INNOVATIVE ART SHOW A PHENOMENAL SUCCESS. LETS KEEP BUILDING! ALL EMPIRES MUST FALL! This is a groundbreaking, multimedia, interactive art show that has traveled between Durham and Greensboro, NC. It features actual evidence from the case of Gil Barber, a young black man killed in High Point on May 18, 2001 by a Guilford County Deputy Sheriff named Thomas Gordy. Gil was unarmed, visibly injured, naked, and trying to stop passing motorists by waving his arms in the middle of the street. What he got was 3 bullets to the chest within 113 seconds of Deputy Gordy's arrival. Gil's parents struggled for over 5 years to see this case get a hearing in the courts. That dream was dashed forever this summer when judge James A. Beaty threw their case out stating that, "it is abundantly clear that Deputy Gordy acted in a reasonable manner under the circumstances." Several artists of various mediums have contributed breath-taking original work that places this case within the broader societal context. Come the see the evidence for yourself!
